Many-body collisional dynamics of impurities injected into a double-well trapped Bose-Einstein condensate

We unravel the many-body dynamics of a harmonically trapped impurity colliding with bosonic medium confined in double-well upon quenching initially displaced harmonic trap to center double-well. reveal that emerging correlation crucially depends on impurity-medium interaction strength allowing for classification into different dynamical response regimes. For strong attractive couplings is bound bath, while intermediate attractions it undergoes an effective tunneling. In case weak or repulsive penetrates bath and performs dissipative oscillatory motion. Further increasing impurity-bath repulsion results pinning between density peaks medium, phenomenon associated entanglement. repulsions totally reflected by medium. To underlying microscopic excitation processes accompanying we employ potential picture. extend our two impurities demonstrate existence qualitatively similar dynamics.

We study the collisional decay of a strongly driven Bose-Einstein condensate oscillating between two momentum modes. The resulting products of the decay are found to strongly deviate from the usual s-wave halo. Using a stochastically seeded classical field method we simulate the collisional manifold. These results are also explained by a model of colliding Bloch states.
